We talk informally about and tasting Cape wines in an informal and somewhat down to earth irreverent manner with no pretention at all. The other is The Klutz in the Kitchen’s Food, Beverage Recipes, and Eatery Reviews and also features, live tastings, recipes, interviews and restaurant reviews by the Klutz In The Kitchen. 20:00 – 22:00 The Kibby Factor Compiled, presented & produced by Cape Town based guitarist bandleader, composter and recording artist, James “Acid Robot” Kibby in Cape Town, SA. (Acid, Avant Garde, Electronic Jazz, Blues and Beyond). Going what and where most men fear to go, bravely, beyond the realms of whatever comes into his mind) James has been involved on the Cape music scene for too many years to mention having started out with Basil ‘Manenberg’ Coetzee in the late 80’s and continues his career with his current projects, Acid Blues and Ward 10. James also plays solo acoustic gigs under his own name and solo electronic under the name Acid Robot. His show, The Kibby Factor aims to explore what could potentially be the future of jazz, blues and world music. Going where most would fear to go, however James goes bravely, beyond the realms of convention taking one for an exciting ride of possibilities.  Featured albums, tracks and artists are the ones who are seen to be pushing the envelope in terms of using jazz and blues sensibilities to create new offshoots or even new genres. Presenting technology in music as a good thing means exploring the use of software, hardware and synthesized sounds in modern jazz-based composition and improvisation. This does not mean that older music or acoustic music is not featured. It  time when it was released. The show often features interviews with the artists who’s music is featured and is made available as a weekly podcast on Mixcloud and by email to anyone requesting it. It has known listeners in the UK, Canada, China, Germany, Israel, and the USA as well as all the big cities here in SA. The Kibby Factor first aired in January 2013.

18:00 – 20:00 The Vagabond Show Compiled, presented & produced by Brian Currin from Cape Town, SA (A show of mixed Blues andjazz beyond the fringes from Africa & the Global Village) The Vagabond Show, or to give it its full title, The Vagabond Jazz & Blues Radio Show, is a two-hour show on Wednesday evenings on All Jazz Radio between 6 and 8pm (CAT). Sometimes the show is all Jazz, sometimes all Blues but more often than not, is an eclectic mix of the two. The choice of Jazz tunes often tends towards the more avant-garde and off-the-wall side, Jazz Beyond in fact. When it comes to Blues, it is pretty much Old, New, Borrowed & Blues, and everything in-between. South African artists get high-lighted frequently on the show and sometimes entire shows focus on only South African musicians, past, present & future. One thing for sure, listeners of the Vagabond Show can always expect the unexpected. Brian is the son of a church organist father and pianist mother, he grew up surrounded by music. In his pre-teen years he realised that he had no real talent for playing music and he couldn’t sing, so immersed himself in the world of music by listening, exploring and researching, which he still does today. He is actively involved in promoting South African music, and is the co-owner of a number of music-related websites including www.rock.co.za which, he founded in 1999.Having spent many years in corporate sales and marketing until his involvement in the re-discovery of Rodriguez, opened up a whole new world for him. Most days he can be found behind-the-counter at Mabu Vinyl, the iconic music store seen in the Oscar-winning “Searching For Sugar Man” film. His voice can be heard on the streaming radio station All Jazz Radio where he hosts The Vagabond Jazz & Blues Radio Show.

20:00 – 21:00 Todd’s Turntable Compiled, presented & produced by Jazz Vocalist Todd Gordon from Edinburgh, Scotland (Vocal Jazz from across the centuries up to today). Todd Gordon is one of the UK’s acclaimed jazz/swing singers and radio presenters. He has recorded almost 200 editions of his weekly show, Todd’s Turntable, which features many of the world’s greatest singers performing terrific songs. Each edition has a theme… songwriters, arrangers, or categories of songs, etc – all wrapped up with Todd’s warm and engaging commentary highlighting his passion for and knowledge of jazz, swing and related musical genres.Aged just 11, he started listening to Sinatra recordings and this led him to also collect albums by other singers, bandleaders, arrangers and musicians. A lifelong passion was born. This was consolidated in 1975 when, still a teenager, he met Ella Fitzgerald who later that day invited the young fan on stage during her concert to serenade him with You Are the Sunshine of My Life – an endearing article on this amazing encounter is featured on his website: www.toddgordon.com

18:00 – 20:00 Contemporary Melange Compiled & produced by Eric Alan from Cape Town, SA (A mix of Contemporary Smooth Afro, Soul Jazz & World Jazz)

20:00 – 22:00 The Groove Merchant Compiled, presented & produced by Andy Hardy from Ngongotaha, New Zealand (A mixed show of Groove, Fusion & Funk Jazz down the ages) “You are listening to All Jazz Radio.co.za and this is the latest edition of the groove merchant, I’m Andy Hardy and I’ll be your host for the next 2 hours” Those words or similar are what you will hear each week on my long-established show The Groove Merchant. I have been recording this show (previously Andy’s Jazz Show on UK Jazz Radio) for over 5 years. I have a huge music data base and my current project is to clean, catalogue and store my massive vinyl collection of Jazz, Funk & Soul. The show title is a clue to the weekly play list, if it’s groovy I play it, anything from 1950 onwards is fair game but in a typical show you’ll hear The Crusaders, George Benson, Jimmy Smith, Oscar Peterson, Deodato, Donald Byrd and so on. If you are searching for the avant garde or free jazz you are in the wrong slot! Born in 1960 and raised in London I was exposed to Soul and Jazz music at an early age by DJ’s such as Tony Blackburn and the eclectic John Peel, and later in my teenage years the main man Froggy, the Jazz Funk mafia of Chris Hill, Robbie Vincent and the legendary Caister DJ’s. If I could play music all day I would but to earn a crust I work worldwide as a commissioning engineer, this does of course allow me to dig the crates in many a record store, heaven! If you like my show or just want to comment you can always email me at andysjazzshow@gmail.com and if you are a new artist or just want air time send me your music, if it grooves it’s in the mix. Cheers.
